Billy and I (Jane) have been itching to travel the US in our travel trailer with our Toy Manchester dog, Maggie May. We began this journey with a light weight travel trailer and while enjoying the western United States stepped into traveling in our Mirada Motor Home. Blogging is the means we plan to use so that our family and friends may keep track of our whereabouts. Stay tuned as we explore, visit family and friends, and make many new friends along the way.

French Broad River - Asheville, NC
We left the shores of Lake Wylie yesterday at about 10:00 am and made our way into the mountains. It was a growth experience for us because we have never pulled the camper into the mountains. Didn't have a problem though so we will drive on up to the northwest without concern. We did realize that you can't lollygag down the road while driving these curvy mountain roads like you can on our flat Florida highways. The drive was beautiful as a gawked at the wild flowers and white pines along the sides of the road. What a pleasant surprise when we arrived at the campground to find that our picture window on the camper backs up on a beautiful section of the French Broad River. Do wonder what was the name of that French Broad???? After arriving I announced that I would be happy to stay put right here in the camper for the next three days. So peaceful and relaxing and we even have a large family of Mallards on the river. I would like to say that the Mallards make me feel right at home but the weather here is quite pleasant and not at all blistering hot like it is at home. Speaking of home, we breathed a sigh of relief when we heard yesterday that our newest named storm will not go into the Gulf of Mexico.
Uncle Jim and Francie picked us up and we all went to a lovely restaurant in town. We sat around after dinner and swapped stories and then returned to the camper for more stories and watermelon on the banks of the river. I must say once again that "Life is Good Today." Maggie likes it here and jumped the rocks with me in the river yesterday. We will probably let her swim today! Thanks for stopping by.
